The Benefits of Resveratrol

With our Champagne and Pearls party around the corner, it only seems fitting to talk about the good and bad effects alcohol has on the body. Resveratrol is a natural phenol that can be found in wine and champagne. It is known that having a glass of red wine a night can reap a plethora of health benefits. While champagne and white wine both contain resveratrol, red wine contains the highest levels of antioxidants. Three of the antioxidants the red wine contains are flavonoid, resveratrol and tannin. If you’re looking for a wine with high levels of antioxidants, try a Pinot Noir.
Our KD Triple Shot Serum is formulated with resveratrol and green tea polyphenols that help protect the skin from free radicals. Antioxidants like resveratrol help increase collagen production and improve the skin’s elasticity. Additionally, caffeine increases the affects of its antioxidant properties. One bottle of the KD Triple Shot Serum is the equivalent to 500 cups of coffee! According to Bustle.com, Champagne makes for a great toner! Yes, you heard right. Not only does champagne “detoxify the skin with antioxidants” but “contains tartaric acid, which helps balance out discoloration”.
While a glass of wine doesn’t hurt, alcohol isn’t always the best for our health. If you’ve ever noticed that your skin seems dull after a night of drinking, alcohol is most likely the culprit. Alcohol is guilty of eliminating much of the good fluids in our body, in addition to taking away nutrients like Vitamin A and C, as well as Zinc. The consumption of alcohol may often lead to increased inflammation in the skin which is caused by a histamine reaction. For those with a pre-disposition to rosacea, alcohol could potentially trigger a flare up. If you’ve ever broken out after a night of drinking, it could be caused by the dilation of pores which is caused by excessive alcohol consumption. This can in turn, lead to blackheads and whiteheadWhile red wine is the healthiest choice when it comes to drinking, sticking to clear liquors is also a better choice. Dark liquors tend to contain a greater level of additives than clear liquors do. Beer also contains an increased amount of additives as well as higher levels of sugar and salt. Unfortunately, too much of a good thing isn’t always best! If you do intend on consuming alcohol, it is always recommend to drink lots of water before and after a night of drinking. Coconut water, watermelon, and cantaloupe are also great sources of hydration. Using a serum with hyaluronic acid is key to keeping skin hydrated and plump. Try our KD Deep Blue Hydration to revive lackluster skin! This serum contains 1000x its weight in water and promotes intense hydration without making your skin oily!
